Making Performance Accessible
Stimulating performance has never been so accessible. And it´s driven by Jaguar innovation. There are three powerful petrol engines to choose from: the 2 litre, 2.5 litre and 3 litre V6.
There´s also the stunning, turbocharged 2 litre diesel, equipped with latest generation common rail technology to deliver true Jaguar sporting performance.
Four Wheel Drive
Jaguar´s Traction4 four-wheel drive - standard on 2.5 and 3 litre V6 models - provides optimum grip in rain, sleet, snow or ice, by electronically redirecting power to the appropriate wheels. On dry roads, it also proves its worth as you power through fast or tight corners. Whatever the conditions, Jaguar technology enhances your driving experience and protects you and your passengers.
A safer environment
The X-TYPE is engineered without compromise to protect all occupants. Key safety features include Traction Control systems to protect you from wheel spin, occupancy sensing, electronic brake-force distribution, front, side and curtain airbags and front seatbelt pre-tensioners.
Occupancy Sensing
Deployment of the dual-stage front airbags is determined by sophisticated occupancy sensors that monitor the position of the driver´s seat, the weight of the front passenger and whether seatbelts are being used.
Security
Your X-TYPE is protected by remote central double locking and 2-stage unlock. A perimeter sensing alarm and intrusion sensing is also fitted as standard.
Crumple zones
Front and rear crumple zones absorb and deflect the force of an impact, dissipating its energy to enable the rigid passenger cell to afford optimum protection.
Front, side and curtain airbags
Dual-stage front airbags help reduce the risk of head injuries. In a side impact, curtain airbags drop down to shield the heads and torsos of all occupants, while side airbags deploy from the outer front seat bolsters to protect the rib cage.
Dynamic Stability Control (DSC)
DSC is available across the X-TYPE range as an option and standard on the Sport Premium. The system detects understeer or oversteer, adjusting power and applying brakes to the appropriate wheels to maintain traction.
In the event of an emergency, optional Emergency Brake Assist (part of the DSC system) senses if a driver is not applying maximum braking and intervenes to deliver the necessary additional force, gaining a potentially critical few metres in stopping distance.
Side Impact Protection
To complement the protection of side and curtain airbags, the X-TYPE has reinforced anti-intrusion bars in all four doors to resist the force of a side collision.
